Lifedrain. The deck stacks small, repeatable sources of life gain and life loss: extort, upkeep pings, creatures entering, opponents casting or drawing, and its commander's tap ability. These sit alongside payoffs that turn every life-gain event into opponent life loss. Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel is the card engine: each time life is gained it can pay that much life to draw that many cards. Life doublers make each gain bigger, so the deck refuels while draining. Big drain spells and the Sanguine Bond or Exquisite Blood loops then close the table out. How it wins: It drains the table out through stacked life-gain-to-life-loss triggers and X drain spells, or ends the game outright with Aetherflux Reservoir or Sanguine Bond looping off Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror. Key roles: - Drain payoffs: These turn every instance of gaining life into opponent life loss, so even tiny gains bleed the whole table. (Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity) - Infinite drain loops: Pairing a gain-to-loss payoff with a loss-to-gain payoff creates an endless back-and-forth that kills. Reservoir's storm life gain also does this, or pays 50 life to fire 50 damage. (Exquisite Blood, Bloodthirsty Conqueror, Aetherflux Reservoir) - Incremental life sources: Cheap, repeatable triggers from extort, creatures entering, opponents' spells and draws, and upkeep pings keep the payoffs and the commander firing every turn. (Soul Warden, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, Creeping Bloodsucker) - Life doublers and multipliers: Doubling every gain grows each drain trigger and each commander draw. Beacon of Immortality turns a big life total into a lethal Sanguine Bond hit. (Rhox Faithmender, Alhammarret's Archive, Beacon of Immortality) - Life-as-resource card engine: Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel converts banked life into cards, and other pieces punish draws or spend life for value. Draws then feed back into drain. (Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Psychosis Crawler, Bolas's Citadel) - Big drain finishers: Devotion and X-cost drains deal large chunks of loss, and their matching life gain chains into the payoffs. (Exsanguinate, Debt to the Deathless, Gray Merchant of Asphodel)
