Baru, Wurmspeaker
Baru, Wurmspeaker Commander Deck
Mono-green Wurm tribal stompy built around Baru, Wurmspeaker, who gives every Wurm +2/+2 and trample and turns spare mana into 4/4 Wurm tokens, made far cheaper by having a big Wurm on board. The deck ramps hard into oversized Wurms and token makers, cuts their costs, and draws cards off big creatures entering. It then leans on power-scaling effects, keyed to the greatest power or to 4-or-more power, to turn one huge body into cards, mana and lethal trample damage. How it wins: It swarms the board with Baru-pumped trampling Wurms, then uses power doubling, team pumps and evasion to push through overwhelming combat damage. Key roles: - Wurm army: Big Wurm creatures and Wurm token makers fill the board. Baru grants them +2/+2 and trample, and they in turn make his token ability nearly free, letting him repeat it each turn with untap help. (Crush of Wurms, Worldspine Wurm, Sandwurm Convergence) - Ramp and cost reduction: Mana dorks, land tutors and cost reducers, including ones keyed to Wurm type or 4+ power, deploy seven-plus-drop Wurms early. Ferocious and power-scaled mana lets big bodies pay for more big bodies. (Fanatic of Rhonas, Urza's Incubator, Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma) - Big-creature card flow: Draw engines trigger on casting creatures, expensive spells, or 4+ power creatures entering, and power-scaled draw spells refill the hand off the largest Wurm. (Garruk's Uprising, The Great Henge, Rishkar's Expertise) - Untap engine: Untappers reuse Baru's token ability, mana dorks and Castle Garenbrig several times a turn. (Patriar's Seal, Saryth, the Viper's Fang, Formidable Speaker) - Combat amplifiers and evasion: Power doubling, scaling team pumps, +1/+1 counter doubling, and intimidate or unblockability let the trampling army deal lethal damage quickly. Ram Through turns one huge Wurm into removal and damage. (Unnatural Growth, Overwhelming Stampede, Bellowing Tanglewurm) - Board protection: Team-wide hexproof, indestructibility and uncounterability guard the expensive Wurms and Baru against removal and sweepers. Wurms with death triggers leave bodies behind. (Asceticism, Heroic Intervention, Wurmcoil Engine)
