Grismold, the Dreadsower

Grismold, the Dreadsower Commander Deck

by spectral_orc100 cards

Grismold floods every board with 1/1 Plant tokens each end step and grows a +1/+1 counter whenever any creature token dies, whether it is the player's own or an opponent's. The deck makes that symmetry pay off by killing tokens en masse with token-hating enchantments, sweepers and -X/-X effects, and by feeding its own tokens to sacrifice outlets. Death triggers then drain opponents, draw cards and grow a trampling Grismold that, in line with the aggro plan, beats down alongside menace and flying threats. How it wins: The deck builds a huge trampling Grismold and evasive beaters to attack opponents out while drain-on-death effects chip away every life total, with mass token deaths finishing the job. Key roles: - Token killers: these effects wipe out the Plants and other gifted tokens on every board, turning each opponent's free token into a counter on Grismold and a wave of death triggers (Virulent Plague, Illness in the Ranks, Massacre Wurm) - Gifting fodder to opponents: several cards hand opponents extra tokens, creating more bodies for the token killers to destroy and more counters for Grismold (Akroan Horse, Hunted Bonebrute, Slaughter Specialist) - Death-trigger drain: each creature dying, on either side, causes life loss for opponents, so board wipes and sacrifices double as reach (Blood Artist, Poison-Tip Archer, Syr Konrad, the Grim) - Sacrifice outlets and token makers: own tokens are fed to free or cheap outlets to grow Grismold on demand, with extra token producers keeping fodder available (Viscera Seer, Spawning Pit, Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder) - Death-fueled card flow: dying creatures refill the hand so the aggressive pressure never runs out (Skullclamp, Moldervine Reclamation, Tallyman of Nurgle) - Trample finishers: power-based damage and pump turn a giant Grismold into lethal damage that spills through blockers or into face, and the threat can be rebuilt through reanimation (Ram Through, Return of the Wildspeaker, Victimize)
