The Ur-Dragon deck is a five-color Dragon tribal ramp deck. Eminence discounts, cost-reducer creatures and mana rocks make its expensive Dragons cheaper, and the Dragons then flood the board and swing together. Each attack makes The Ur-Dragon draw one card per attacking Dragon, then put a permanent card from hand straight onto the battlefield. That chains more Dragons into play and sets off enter-the-battlefield damage, token makers and attack-trigger payoffs. How it wins: It overwhelms opponents with a wide flying Dragon army, pumped by power doublers, double strike and team buffs, plus incidental burn from Dragons entering and attacking. Key roles: - Dragon cost reduction and mana: shrinks the cost of big Dragon spells and adds Dragon-only and creature-only mana so several can land early, alongside land ramp for five colors (Dragonspeaker Shaman, Urza's Incubator, Rivaz of the Claw). - Attack-triggered value: Dragons that make mana, tokens or damage when they attack combine with the commander's draw-and-cheat trigger, so every combat refuels the hand and grows the board (Utvara Hellkite, Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient, Savage Ventmaw). - Enter-the-battlefield payoffs: each Dragon entering, whether cast or put in by the commander, adds copies, tokens, Treasure or cards, or deals damage scaled by the number of Dragons (Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, Scourge of Valkas). - Combat amplifiers: doubling power, granting double strike, trample and team pumps turn a few flying Dragons into lethal swings (Atarka, World Render, Thrakkus the Butcher, Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury). - Dragon tutoring and recursion: finds or brings back Dragons to keep the engine running, including reanimation off combat damage (Tiamat, Bladewing the Risen, Draconic Muralists). - One-sided board control: sweepers and effects that spare Dragons, plus punishment for targeting them, clear blockers while the flyers survive (Crux of Fate, Breath Weapon, Scalelord Reckoner).
