Braids, Arisen Nightmare Commander Deck

by silent_lizard103 cards

Mono-black aristocrats built around Braids, Arisen Nightmare. Every end step, Braids sacrifices one of its own permanents, and each opponent must either sacrifice a permanent of the same type or lose 2 life and give Braids a card. The list is packed with fodder that profits from dying: tokens, death-trigger creatures, recursive creatures, and artifacts that replace themselves when they hit the graveyard. Edict creatures, upkeep sacrifice, and discard keep opponents low on resources, so Braids' choice usually turns into drain and cards. How it wins: A wide net of death-trigger drain pieces turns the steady stream of sacrifices into life loss, finished off by big devotion drains and repeated drain triggers until opponents run out of life. Key roles: - Sacrifice fodder: Self-replacing artifacts, token makers, and creatures with death value feed Braids' end-step sacrifice and the free sac outlets at almost no card cost (Nimblewright Schematic, Nine-Lives Familiar, Woe Strider). - Symmetrical edicts and attrition: Effects that make every player sacrifice or discard grind opponents' boards and hands down while the deck's fodder absorbs the cost. This makes it more likely they decline Braids' matching sacrifice and take the 2 life and card penalty instead (Fleshbag Marauder, Braids, Cabal Minion, Butcher of Malakir). - Aristocrat drain payoffs: A stack of death triggers turns each sacrifice into lost life for opponents and life gained, and these triggers are the deck's main damage source. A few of them only pay off once per turn (Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist, Syr Konrad, the Grim). - Sacrifice-fueled card flow: Draw engines and sacrifice-as-cost spells convert dying creatures and artifacts into cards and treasure, keeping the fodder supply refilled (Grim Haruspex, Smothering Abomination, Deadly Dispute). - Recursion loops: Reanimation, return-on-death tricks, and token copies bring back value creatures to re-trigger their enter and death abilities, rebuilding the board after mass sacrifice (Nightmare Shepherd, Victimize, Vat of Rebirth). - Big drain finishers: Burst drains and repeated draw-based drains close the game once devotion and card flow are high (Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Gixian Puppeteer, Agent of the Iron Throne).
