Doran, Besieged by Time leads a toughness-matters strategy where high-toughness creatures, many of them defenders, attack and deal combat damage based on their toughness rather than their power, while Doran's own ability further pumps creatures whose toughness exceeds their power as they engage in combat. The deck accelerates mana through defenders like Axebane Guardian and Overgrown Battlement, then floods the board with massive walls and treefolk that become overwhelming attackers, supported by lifelink and life-gain payoffs that generate incremental card advantage and pressure opponents' life totals. The deck wins primarily through repeated combat with enormous toughness-based attackers, supplemented by drain effects, a board-wiping sacrifice outlet in Tip the Scales, and Towering Titan entering as a colossal threat scaled to the team's total toughness.
