Nekusar, the Mindrazer Commander Deck

by wild_whale100 cards

This is a classic Nekusar group-hug-turned-punisher deck. It hands every player extra cards through symmetrical draw engines and mass wheel effects, while a stack of "whenever an opponent draws" punishers makes each of those draws cost life. Nekusar is both an extra-draw engine and a pinger. Discard-punishing enchantments and creatures make the wheels hurt twice: once on the discard, then again on the redraw. How it wins: The deck stacks several draw punishers and then fires a wheel or mass-draw spell (or lets Forced Fruition and the extra draw-step cards run), dealing lethal damage and life loss to all opponents at once, with Exsanguinate as a finisher. Key roles: - Draw punishers: Cards that deal damage or drain life whenever an opponent draws turn every extra card into lost life, and they multiply with each other and with Nekusar's own trigger (Sheoldred, the Apocalypse; Underworld Dreams; Fate Unraveler). - Symmetrical draw engines: Permanents that give every player additional draws each turn or force draws on upkeep provide a steady stream of punisher triggers and keep opponents' hands full (Howling Mine; Dictate of Kruphix; Scrawling Crawler). - Wheels and mass draw: Hand-refilling spells and creatures make each opponent draw seven or more cards in one go, which with a few punishers out turns into a burst of damage that can end the game (Windfall; Magus of the Wheel; Forced Fruition). - Discard payoffs: Wheels and targeted discard also trigger effects that punish or reward opponents' discards, adding a second layer of life loss and value on top of the redraws (Liliana's Caress; Fell Specter; Waste Not). - Trigger multiplication: An equipment that doubles a Wizard's triggers turns Nekusar or Jace's Archivist into a double pinger or repeatable wheel, while the cost reducer makes the blue and red spells cheaper to chain (Wizard's Staff; Nightscape Familiar; Jace's Archivist). - Control and interaction: Cheap counters and removal protect the punisher setup and stop opponents from using their bloated hands to break out before the damage piles up (Counterspell; Cyclonic Rift; Arcane Denial).
