Torbran - Group Slug

Torbran, Thane of Red Fell Commander Deck

by TheJungleTurkey100 cards

A mono-red punisher and burn deck built around Torbran, which adds 2 to every hit a red source deals to opponents or their permanents. It turns small repeating pings from symmetrical "taxing" pieces (upkeep burn, spell-cast punishers, land-tap and landfall pingers) into lethal clocks, and stacks further damage modifiers (doublers, triplers and extra plus-damage effects) so that each source multiplies. Wheels, rummage-and-Treasure spells and a dense mana base keep the punishers firing and the hand refilled, while the opponents are steadily ground down. How it wins: Opponents bleed out from many amplified small damage triggers, finished by a burst from stacked damage multipliers, a mass-damage sweeper fed through Repercussion or Toralf, or Heartless Hidetsugu doubled by Solphim. Key roles: - Damage amplifiers: These stack with Torbran's plus 2 so that every ping, burn spell and trigger deals multiplied damage to opponents and their permanents. (Fiery Emancipation, Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Twinflame Tyrant) - Punisher pingers: These are repeatable symmetrical damage sources that tax opponents for casting spells, drawing, tapping lands or playing lands. Each tick becomes 3 or more damage under Torbran. (Sulfuric Vortex, Eidolon of the Great Revel, Spellshock) - Wheels and forced draws: These refill hands, making opponents cast and draw into the punisher pieces while restocking the deck's own fuel. (Magus of the Wheel, Wheel of Misfortune, Razorkin Needlehead) - Sweeper-to-face redirection: Mass creature damage is converted into enormous player damage, the deck's combo finishes. (Blasphemous Act, Repercussion, Toralf, God of Fury // Toralf's Hammer) - Life-halving finisher: Heartless Hidetsugu's halving becomes lethal when Solphim doubles it, killing any opponent at an even life total. Lifegain lock pieces keep opponents from recovering. (Heartless Hidetsugu, Rampaging Ferocidon, Roiling Vortex) - Mana denial and Mountain payoffs: The heavy basic Mountain base lets symmetrical land punishment and nonbasic hate hurt opponents far more, while Mountains fuel Valakut and landfall burn. (Blood Moon, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, Burning Earth)
