Wick, the Whorled Mind
Wick, the Whorled Mind Commander Deck
This is a Rat tribal go-wide deck built around Wick, the Whorled Mind. Every Rat that enters, tokens included, either creates a Snail or grows the existing one with a +1/+1 counter, so a steady stream of Rat tokens turns one Snail into a large threat. Wick can then sacrifice that Snail for {U}{B}{R} to deal its power as damage to each opponent and draw that many cards. Around this sit token makers, Rat anthems and toxic/deathtouch lords, death-trigger engines that turn sacrifices into more Rats and cards, and changelings plus Maskwood Nexus to count extra bodies as Rats. How it wins: Repeatedly pumping a Snail with mass Rat token creation and sacrificing it to Wick to burn each opponent while refilling the hand, backed by a wide, buffed Rat swarm attacking with menace, fear, toxic and deathtouch. Key roles: - Rat token generation: Mass and repeated Rat creation feeds Wick's Snail counters each time, and makes the board wide enough for the pump effects and sacrifice outlets (Marrow-Gnawer, Pack Rat, Revenge of the Rats). - Snail payoff and reach: Wick turns the grown Snail into direct damage to every opponent plus a big card draw, and power doubling or extra counters make each sacrifice far more lethal (Wick, the Whorled Mind, Bulk Up, Blightbelly Rat). - Aristocrats death engine: Creatures dying, whether to sacrifice costs or removal, create replacement Rats, grow counters or draw cards, so every sacrifice keeps the Snail growing and the hand full (Rat King, Pale Piper, Totentanz, Swarm Piper, Skullclamp). - Rat lords and evasion: Anthems and keyword lords turn a pile of 1/1s into a lethal attack with menace, fear, toxic and deathtouch (Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm, Karumonix, the Rat King, Shared Animosity). - Tribal consistency and copying: Changelings and type-granting effects let non-Rats trigger Wick, while tribal cost reduction, spell copying and Rat-tutoring keep Rat spells flowing (Maskwood Nexus, Reflections of Littjara, Herald's Horn). - Tribal mana: Lands and artifacts that scale with or are restricted to the chosen type provide the large mana needed for repeated activations (Three Tree City, Orcrist, Goblin-cleaver, Secluded Courtyard).
