Kaalia of the Vast is a cheat engine: each time she attacks, she drops a huge Angel, Demon or Dragon from hand straight into combat, tapped and attacking, without paying its cost. The deck surrounds her with haste and protection to keep her swinging, and fills the rest of the list with seven-plus mana fatties whose combat-damage or enter triggers decide games. Sneak Attack, reanimation and tutors give other ways to land the same threats. How it wins: It wins by repeated evasive combat with cheated-in fatties, often across extra combats with doubled damage, or by having Kaalia drop Master of Cruelties unblocked to set an opponent's life to 1 so any other damage finishes them. Key roles: - Haste and Kaalia protection: Kaalia needs to survive and attack the turn she lands, so haste sources and hexproof or indestructible equipment let her trigger right away and keep triggering (Swiftfoot Boots, Rising of the Day, Lavaspur Boots, Mithril Coat). - Fatty payload: Angels, Demons and Dragons that take over a game once they connect, whether by wiping the defender's board, stealing their permanents, refilling hands, fetching cards on entry or doubling all damage (Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Balefire Dragon, Lord of the Void, Angel of Despair, Hellkite Tyrant). - Extra combats and attack-trigger copying: Every extra attack is another Kaalia trigger and another cheated threat. Untap effects and additional combat phases chain those swings, and Strionic Resonator copies Kaalia's trigger to drop two creatures in one attack (Aurelia, the Warleader, Relentless Assault, Bloodthirster, Strionic Resonator). - Alternate cheats and recursion: Other ways to put the big creatures into play or get them back, including Sneak Attack, reanimation, and recursion that returns creatures that died (Sneak Attack, Reanimate, Avacyn, Angel of Horror, Reya Dawnbringer). - Tutors for the right threat: Tutors find Master of Cruelties or whichever fatty the table can't answer, so the hand always has something for Kaalia to drop (Demonic Tutor, Diabolic Intent, Rune-Scarred Demon). - Asymmetric lockdown: Mass destruction such as Armageddon or one-sided wipes, plus effects that stop opponents from casting spells during the combat turn, clear the way for a board that rebuilds through one commander attack (Ruinous Ultimatum, Armageddon, Silence, Voice of Victory).
