Umbris, Fear Manifest
Umbris, Fear Manifest Commander Deck
Umbris anchors a Dimir Horror/Nightmare tribal deck. Every Nightmare or Horror that enters forces an opponent to exile cards off the top of their library until they hit a land, and Umbris grows with every card opponents own in exile. The deck stacks mill and exile effects on top of this: library exile triggers, graveyard hate that turns milled cards into exiled ones, and replacement effects like Leyline of the Void. The result is a huge Umbris, plus decked opponents in the long game. Tribal cost reduction, token copies of Horrors, and evasion keep the triggers flowing and let the threats connect. How it wins: It swings with an enormous Umbris and evasive Horrors buffed by exile counts, or empties opponents' libraries with mill and exile until they cannot draw. Key roles: - Tribal entry triggers: Horrors and Nightmares, especially ones copied or made as tokens, each trigger Umbris's library exile, and spell copying and cost reduction multiply the triggers (Reflections of Littjara, Ancient Cellarspawn, Endless Evil). - Mill-to-exile conversion: Graveyard hate and replacement effects turn milled and dying cards into exiled cards, so the mill also feeds Umbris's power (Leyline of the Void, Ashiok, Dream Render, Stone of Erech). - Library depletion: Big mill spells and attack triggers drain libraries as a second win route and boost graveyard-scaling threats (Fractured Sanity, Nemesis of Reason, Consuming Aberration). - Stealing from opponents: Several pieces cast or reanimate opponents' exiled, milled, or in-hand cards, turning the self-mill-free plan into card advantage (Captain N'ghathrod, Elder Brain, Intellect Devourer). - Evasion and combat damage conversion: Unblockability, menace, deathtouch, and hexproof push a giant Umbris through, and one card turns all damage into massive mill (Falthis, Shadowcat Familiar, Aqueous Form, The Mindskinner). - Interaction and control: Counters, exile-based removal, and sweepers protect the board while adding more cards to opponents' exile piles (Dissipate, Blot Out, Singularity Rupture).
