Auntie Ool turns -1/-1 counters into a two-sided engine: each time counters land on a creature it controls, it draws a card, and each time they land on an opponent's creature, that creature's controller loses 1 life. The deck is built to put -1/-1 counters everywhere as often as possible. It uses blight costs and self-inflicted counters on its own bodies to draw cards, and uses sweepers, wither, proliferate and repeatable counter placers to shrink, kill and steal opposing creatures while every placement drains life. Separate "whenever you put a -1/-1 counter" payoffs stack on top of Auntie's triggers, so a single board-wide counter effect can draw a pile of cards, make a swarm of tokens and deal heavy damage at once. How it wins: It grinds opponents out with a constant stream of counter-placement triggers that drain life and burn them, while it steals their dying creatures and wipes their boards, then finishes with mass counter turns, proliferate chains or the Mikaeus and Yawgmoth undying loop with persist creatures. Key roles: - Self-blight card engine: Blight costs, creatures that enter with or put counters on themselves, and persist bodies feed Auntie Ool's draw trigger while turning the drawback into mana, treasure or card filtering (Devoted Druid, Scuzzback Scrounger, Sinister Gnarlbark). - Mass counter placement: Symmetrical counter sweepers and repeatable each-creature effects hit every opposing creature at once, so each one makes its controller lose life through Auntie Ool, and the deck's own creatures draw cards at the same time (Black Sun's Zenith, Darkness Descends, Carnifex Demon). - Proliferate and wither multipliers: Proliferate sources and wither-granting effects turn every bit of damage or every existing counter into a fresh round of counter triggers (Contagion Engine, Everlasting Torment, Massacre Girl, Known Killer). - Counter-placement payoffs: Separate triggers convert each placement into extra drain, burn or tokens, and the tokens become more bodies to blight (All Will Be One, Obelisk Spider, Nest of Scarabs). - Death triggers and theft: Creatures that die with counters on them draw cards, pass along more counters, make treasure, or come back under this deck's control (The Scorpion God, Necroskitter, The Reaper, King No More). - Undying and persist combo: Persist and undying creatures reset their counters each time they return, so a sacrifice outlet can loop them for endless drain, draws and counter triggers, assembled with tutors and recursion (Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Putrid Goblin).
