Obeka, Splitter of Seconds Commander Deck
Obeka is a voltron-style upkeep engine: she gets suited up with equipment that adds power, evasion and protection, and every point of combat damage she deals to a player grants that many extra upkeep steps after combat. The deck is stacked with "at the beginning of your upkeep" permanents (Courts, token copiers, free-cast exile effects, drain and draw engines, suspend and time-counter cards), so each connected hit replays all of them several times in one turn. Counterspells and split-second effects protect the key turn, and sweepers reset boards that threaten the plan. How it wins: Obeka connects for large damage, and the stacked extra upkeeps then drain opponents through Courts and upkeep pingers, flood the board with tokens, or rapidly copy an artifact enchanted by Mechanized Production until eight copies win the game outright. Key roles: - Making Obeka connect: equipment and effects that raise Obeka's power, give double strike or extra combats, and make her unblockable, multiplying the number of extra upkeeps per hit (Wrecking Ball Arm, Genji Glove, Leyline Axe). - Upkeep payoffs: permanents whose upkeep triggers drain, mill, make tokens or cast free spells, turning each extra upkeep into lethal value; the monarch keeps the Courts at full strength (Court of Ambition, Court of Embereth, Triple Triad). - Copy and token engines: upkeep copiers that duplicate artifacts or other upkeep permanents and compound across repeated steps, including the Mechanized Production alternate win (Mechanized Production, Court of Vantress, Extravagant Replication). - Time-counter acceleration: suspend, vanishing and time-counter cards that would normally take turns resolve within one turn of extra upkeeps, along with more extra-upkeep sources (Paradox Haze, As Foretold, Jhoira of the Ghitu). - Split-second protection: a counterspell suite plus effects that give spells split second, shutting down answers during the big turn (Samut, Tyrant of Naktamun, Sudden Spoiling, Counterspell). - Keeping Obeka alive: hexproof, shroud, ward and indestructibility equipment plus recursion lands keep the commander and gear on the field (Champion's Helm, Darksteel Plate, Lightning Greaves).
