Aerith, Last Ancient
Aerith, Last Ancient Commander Deck
The deck is a Selesnya lifegain shell that gains life every turn so Aerith's end-step Raise trigger keeps returning creatures from the graveyard, to hand normally and straight onto the battlefield on 7+ life turns. Cheap soul-sisters and enter-the-battlefield life triggers, stacked with life-doubling replacement effects, make 7 life easy to reach. That turns Aerith into a recurring reanimation engine, fed by self-mill and sacrifice outlets that put creatures into the graveyard on purpose. How it wins: It builds wide boards of creatures that grow with +1/+1 counters every time life is gained and swings with a Bogbeast-style pump, with Test of Endurance at 50 life or Aetherflux Reservoir's 50-damage shot as alternate finishers. Key roles: - Life trigger engine: Cheap creatures and enchantments gain life whenever any creature enters, so every creature played, recurred or made as a token switches on Aerith's Raise and the deck's other "if you gained life" payoffs (Soul Warden, Essence Warden, Guide of Souls). - Life multipliers: Replacement effects add to or double every instance of lifegain, pushing small triggers past Aerith's 7-life threshold so she returns creatures directly to the battlefield, and speeding up the 50-life wins (Rhox Faithmender, The Wind Crystal, Cleric Class). - Counter growth threats: Creatures and effects that gain +1/+1 counters or power from each lifegain event turn incremental triggers into large, evasive attackers and team-wide pumps (Voice of the Blessed, Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn, Blossoming Bogbeast). - Graveyard stocking and sacrifice: Self-mill and sacrifice outlets fill the graveyard with creatures for Aerith to recur, while turning creatures into cards and life along the way (Hermit Druid, Greater Good, Disciple of Freyalise). - Lifegain card flow: End-step and per-gain draw payoffs convert the steady life stream into card advantage to keep the engine fueled (Well of Lost Dreams, The Gaffer, Haliya, Guided by Light). - Alternate finishers: Big life totals become a direct win or lethal damage, and Resplendent Angel's tokens add extra pressure on high-gain turns (Test of Endurance, Aetherflux Reservoir, Resplendent Angel).
