Hakbal of the Surging Soul Commander Deck
Hakbal of the Surging Soul leads a Merfolk tribal deck that uses the explore mechanic to simultaneously grow the board with +1/+1 counters and accelerate land development, flooding the battlefield with increasingly large fish while keeping cards flowing. Cards that double or amplify counters, combined with proliferate effects and landfall triggers from the frequent land drops generated by exploration, compound the deck's growth at an exponential rate. The primary win conditions are either attacking through evasion enablers like Herald of Secret Streams making counter-laden creatures unblockable, or accumulating enough counters to trigger Simic Ascendancy's twenty-growth-counter win condition.
