Korvold, Fae-Cursed King
Korvold, Fae-Cursed King Commander Deck
Korvold is an aristocrats-and-Treasure engine: every sacrifice, whether a fetchland, a Treasure, an Eldrazi Spawn or a creature, draws a card and grows the Dragon, so the deck is packed with free sacrifice outlets and things worth throwing away. Token makers and doublers (Treasure generators, Squirrel and Spawn producers, Xorn, Academy Manufactor, Chatterfang, Doubling Season) turn each trigger into more fodder, which feeds a loop of mana, cards and death triggers that ends with a huge flying Korvold or a burst of drain and ping damage. How it wins: It wins by swinging with an enormous counter-laden Korvold or by draining and pinging the table through Mayhem Devil, Blood Artist-style payoffs and Goblin Bombardment once the sacrifice engine is running, with Revel in Riches as an alternate Treasure-count kill. Key roles: - Sacrifice outlets: Free or mana-producing ways to sacrifice creatures turn every body into a Korvold trigger and keep fodder flowing at instant speed (Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, Goblin Bombardment). - Treasure and token factories: Repeatable Treasure and token generation gives Korvold an endless supply of cheap permanents to sacrifice for cards and counters, while also ramping into bigger plays (Pitiless Plunderer, Tireless Provisioner, Bootleggers' Stash). - Token multipliers: Several cards add extra tokens to every creation event, so a single Treasure or death trigger can produce three or four sacrificeable permanents (Chatterfang, Squirrel General, Xorn, Doubling Season). - Self-sacrificing lands and ramp: Fetchlands, land-sacrifice ramp and cracked lands double as Korvold draws, so mana development also refills the hand and grows the commander (Wooded Foothills, Harrow, Springbloom Druid). - Death-trigger payoffs: Drain, ping and growth effects punish opponents for every permanent sacrificed and provide a non-combat finish (Mayhem Devil, Zulaport Cutthroat, Mirkwood Bats). - Revel in Riches alternate win: Mass Treasure production from lands, combat damage or end-step death counts can reach ten Treasures and win on upkeep (Revel in Riches, Old Gnawbone, Mahadi, Emporium Master).
