Hail Hydras!
Runadi, Behemoth Caller Commander Deck
Mono-green big-creature and +1/+1 counter ramp deck built around Runadi, Behemoth Caller. Runadi gives extra counters to creatures with mana value 5 or more when they are cast, and grants haste to anything carrying three or more counters. The list ramps hard with mana creatures, counter-scaling mana sources and land searching. It stacks counter amplifiers and doublers so that X-cost Hydras and expensive fatties enter huge, often hasty, and keep growing each turn. How it wins: Oversized, often hasty trampling creatures swing for lethal, backed by mass counter doubling and team pump, with Walking Ballista and Vigor plus a counter amplifier as an infinite-damage combo finish. Key roles: - Ramp into behemoths: Mana dorks, land ramp and counter- or power-scaling mana sources reach five-plus mana quickly, so Runadi's cast trigger fires on big threats and large X spells (Gyre Sage, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, Castle Garenbrig). - Counter amplification: Replacement effects that add or double +1/+1 counters multiply every source of counters, including Runadi's cast bonus, pushing creatures past the three-counter haste threshold (Hardened Scales, Doubling Season, Branching Evolution). - Scaling Hydras and counter engines: X-cost and self-growing creatures, plus recurring team-wide counter placement, turn the amplifiers into an exponentially growing board (Kalonian Hydra, Ouroboroid, Court of Garenbrig). - Counter-fueled card advantage: Draw engines key off putting counters on creatures or off large creatures entering and connecting, refilling the hand to keep deploying threats (Terrasymbiosis, Garruk's Uprising, Inspiring Call). - Trample and pump finishers: Team-wide trample, mass pump and damage spreaders turn huge bodies into lethal damage through blockers (Overwhelming Stampede, Surrak and Goreclaw, Hydra Omnivore). - Fight removal and combo kill: Fight spells use the oversized creatures as removal. Vigor converts Walking Ballista's self-pings into more counters under an amplifier, giving infinite damage (Vigor, Walking Ballista, Khalni Ambush).
