The Behemoth

Runadi, Behemoth Caller Commander Deck

by woven_robot100 cards

Mono-green +1/+1 counters ramp built around Runadi. It accelerates into big creatures and X-cost Hydras, and every counter placed is multiplied by doublers and "plus one" effects. Runadi pays off casting creature spells of mana value 5 or more by adding counters equal to the mana value minus 4. Any creature with three or more counters gains haste, so oversized threats and pumped Hydras swing the turn they land. Counter growers, card draw keyed to power 4 or greater, and mana creatures that scale with power turn the board into an expanding engine of cards and mana. How it wins: It overwhelms opponents with huge, hasty trampling creatures, often finished with a team-wide pump or counter doubling, and can also win outright through the Vigor and Walking Ballista infinite damage loop. Key roles: - Counter multipliers: These replacement effects double or add to every counter placement, turning Runadi's bonus, X-Hydras and incidental counters into huge creatures and reaching Runadi's three-counter haste threshold almost automatically (Doubling Season, Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution) - Ramp and big mana: Mana creatures, land fetchers and power-scaling mana sources reach five-plus drops early and pour large X values into Hydras (Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, Kami of Whispered Hopes, Castle Garenbrig) - X-cost Hydras and big threats: These scalable creatures soak up multiplied counters, and the high mana value ones gain Runadi counters and haste on cast (Kalonian Hydra, Goldvein Hydra, Hydra Omnivore) - Board-wide counter engines: Repeating effects spread or double counters across the whole team every turn, snowballing the board (Ouroboroid, Court of Garenbrig, Canopy Gargantuan) - Power-based card draw: These cards draw when big creatures enter, when counters are placed, or when creatures connect in combat, which keeps the threats flowing (Garruk's Uprising, Garruk's Packleader, Terrasymbiosis) - Vigor and Ballista combo with fight removal: Vigor turns damage to the team into counters. Paired with a counter adder, Walking Ballista loops for infinite damage, while fight spells use the oversized creatures as removal (Vigor, Walking Ballista, Khalni Ambush)
