The Serpent Society
The Serpent Society Commander Deck
This is a Golgari deathtouch aristocrats deck. It fills the board with cheap deathtouch creatures and insect tokens, then sacrifices them to free outlets so The Serpent Society makes each opponent sacrifice a nontoken creature every time one dies. Death payoffs drain life, draw cards and refill the board, while Vraska, the Silencer turns the opponents' sacrificed creatures into Treasures, so the deck grinds opposing boards away while building its own resources. How it wins: It strips opponents of blockers through repeated forced sacrifices, then finishes them with death-trigger drains and evasive deathtouch attackers, backed by a secondary poison plan of toxic, poison-on-hit and proliferate. Key roles: - Deathtouch fodder: Cheap one- and two-mana deathtouch bodies, mana dorks and flying insect tokens. Each one is a future sacrifice that makes The Serpent Society force an edict, and they double as deterrent blockers. (Moss Viper, Hornet Queen, Hornet Nest) - Sacrifice outlets and card flow: Free or cheap ways to kill the deck's own deathtouch creatures on demand, turning each death into an opponent's sacrifice plus cards or scry. (Viscera Seer, Skullclamp, Village Rites) - Death drains: Permanents that turn every creature death, on either side of the table, into life loss and lifegain, with lifegain chaining into further drain. (Poison-Tip Archer, South Wind Avatar, Cauldron of Essence) - Edict lockdown and theft: Extra forced sacrifices pile onto the commander's triggers, and opponents' dead nontoken creatures come back as Treasures under the deck's control. (Vraska, the Silencer, Vraska's Fall, Deadly Brew) - Recursion: Returning key deathtouch creatures or used cards so the sacrifice loop keeps going through attrition. (Necrogen Communion, Cauldron of Essence, Skullwinder) - Poison and combat damage: Deathtouch attackers that are hard to block profitably carry poison counters and draw cards on hit, with proliferate pushing toward ten poison counters as an alternate kill. (Fynn, the Fangbearer, Vraska, Betrayal's Sting, Black Widow, Deadly Hunter)
