Red Death, Shipwrecker
Red Death, Shipwrecker Commander Deck
Red Death, Shipwrecker taps each turn to goad an opponent's creature. It pays the opponent a card and refunds red mana, and the deck leans into that symmetrical card flow. The whole list is built around forced combat. Auras, equipment and mass goad effects push opponents' creatures into attacking each other. Damage-punishing enchantments and creatures turn those forced attacks into self-inflicted losses, while Fog Bank, Dissipation Field and Struggle for Project Purity keep the pilot out of the line of fire. The extra cards opponents draw feed The Unagi of Kyoshi Island, Struggle for Project Purity and Sudden Impact. Theft and copy effects borrow the best creatures goad has exposed. How it wins: Opponents grind each other down with forced attacks, worsened by Vengeful Ancestor pings, Manabarbs and Brash Taunter. Then evasive dragons, a Hot Pursuit takeover once two players have fallen, or a lethal Sudden Impact close out whoever is left. Key roles: - Forced attackers: Red Death, Shipwrecker plus repeatable and mass goad keep every opposing board swinging at someone else each turn cycle (Disrupt Decorum, Agitator Ant, Sly Instigator). - Goad auras and equipment: permanent goad attached to an opponent's best creature, which also pumps it so the attacks hit harder, with Shiny Impetus adding Treasure and Psychic Impetus adding scry (Bloodthirsty Blade, Shiny Impetus, Psychic Impetus). - Punishing the attackers: goaded creatures and opponents' lands deal damage back to their controllers, and attackers that hit the pilot get bounced or saddled with rad counters (Vengeful Ancestor, Manabarbs, Dissipation Field). - Symmetrical draw payoffs: the cards Red Death and the group-draw effects hand out are turned into extra draws for the pilot and into burn sized by bloated hands (The Unagi of Kyoshi Island, Struggle for Project Purity, Sudden Impact). - Combat-reward dragons: dragons that goad when they attack and profit when forced attackers connect, along with Grenzo stealing cards or spreading more goad off combat damage (Firkraag, Cunning Instigator, Havoc Eater, Grenzo, Havoc Raiser). - Stealing and copying threats: the deck takes control of or clones the strongest creatures opponents field, and Hot Pursuit seizes every goaded creature for the endgame (Hot Pursuit, Mocking Doppelganger, Tractor Beam).
