Queen Marchesa runs an aikido-style political deck. It deliberately hands out or loses the monarchy, then punishes whoever holds it: Marchesa makes a deathtouch, haste Assassin every upkeep while an opponent is monarch, and those tokens steal the crown back. The rest of the deck taxes and deflects attacks with pillowfort pieces and opponent-rewarding draw engines. It goads the table into fighting itself, then turns opponents' own creatures and damage back on them with redirect and punisher instants, many of them fetched and cast for free through Sunforger. How it wins: Opponents bleed each other through forced combat while their biggest attacks and creatures are reflected back at them, amplified by Gisela, double strike and Arcbond, with Brash Taunter plus Fire Covenant as a combo finish. Key roles: - Monarch tug-of-war: Queen Marchesa crowns the deck on entry, and deathtouch, haste attackers keep stealing the crown back when an opponent takes it. Cards that reward opponents attacking each other or casting extra spells add a steady trickle of cards and value. (Queen Marchesa, Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant, Breena, the Demagogue) - Damage reflection and punishment: These instants and creatures take opponents' attacks, creature power or incoming damage and turn it into direct damage against them. This is the main way the deck kills. (Deflecting Palm, Comeuppance, Backlash) - Damage amplifiers and the Taunter engine: Doubling and spreading effects turn a single redirected hit into lethal across the table, and Brash Taunter converts any damage it takes into face damage, including the self-damage from Fire Covenant. (Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Arcbond, Brash Taunter) - Goad and forced combat: These cards make opposing creatures attack elsewhere, untap and re-goad attackers, or add extra combats, so the table spends its resources on each other. (Taunt from the Rampart, Take the Bait, Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant) - Sunforger toolbox: Equipment tutors find Sunforger, which then casts red or white instants for free at instant speed. That gives the deck repeatable reflection, removal and protection, while Genji Glove and Duelist's Heritage add double-strike pressure. (Sunforger, Stoneforge Mystic, Stonehewer Giant) - Pillowfort and symmetric value: Attack taxes and deterrents keep the deck's life total safe while it collects cards and resources from effects that also feed opponents, which keeps the table politically friendly. (Ghostly Prison, Nils, Discipline Enforcer, Trouble in Pairs)
