The deck is a spells-only value deck built around Codie. Codie taps for a full WUBRG and turns the next spell into a free cascade-style cast of a cheaper instant or sorcery. Codie also forbids casting permanents, so the list is almost entirely instants and sorceries packed with heavy top-end spells, because casting a high mana value spell gives Codie, Quandrix's granted cascade and the various cascade and free-cast sorceries a bigger range of free hits. Land ramp and land-drop card draw push mana toward those huge sorceries. Spell copies and storm then multiply whatever chain gets started. How it wins: It chains free and cascaded spells into game-ending sorceries, such as a second Approach of the Second Sun, massive token armies like thirteen Zombies or a Pegasus swarm, or a one-sided board wipe, while copy effects double the payoff. Key roles: - Cascade and free-cast engines: Codie's WUBRG activation, Quandrix granting cascade to hand-cast instants and sorceries, and sorceries that exile and cast cards for free or tutor and cast them. Together they turn each spell into two or more spells and generate card advantage without paying costs. (Quandrix, the Proof, Call Forth the Tempest, Bring to Light) - High mana value payoffs: eight- to ten-mana sorceries are the ideal spells to trigger Codie and cascade off, since they reach almost any cheaper instant or sorcery. They are also the big finishers, making armies of tokens, wiping creatures, or ramping enormously. (Storm Herd, Army of the Damned, Emergent Ultimatum) - Copy and storm multipliers: copy effects and graveyard recasting duplicate the best free spells. Prismari gives every instant and sorcery storm, which rewards long cascade chains. (Prismari, the Inspiration, Mizzix's Mastery, Reverberate) - Five-color ramp and the Leyline shortcut: land tutors, Treasure bursts and draw spells that drop extra lands fuel Codie's four-mana activation and the expensive top end. Leyline of Mutation lets Codie's WUBRG output pay for any spell, however large, before or alongside Codie. (Leyline of Mutation, Reshape the Earth, Brass's Bounty) - Approach of the Second Sun lock: tutors that set up or find spells, plus copy effects, deliver the second cast of Approach from hand for an alternate win independent of combat. (Approach of the Second Sun, Narset's Reversal, Solve the Equation) - Spell-focused selection and interaction: cheap cantrips, looting and spell tutors keep the chain fueled and stock the graveyard for recasting. Instant-speed removal and fog effects keep the deck alive while it lacks permanents. (Mystical Tutor, Frantic Search, Inkshield)
