Sultai Teval Upgrade
Teval, the Balanced Scale Commander Deck
Teval wants to keep cards flowing into and out of the graveyard. Self-mill, discard outlets and Teval's own attack trigger fill the yard. Reanimation, graveyard casting, delve and land recursion then pull cards back out, and each time cards leave, Teval and its support pieces create Zombie Druid tokens, Treasure or cards. Those bodies feed sacrifice outlets and death-trigger punishers like Grave Pact, while reanimation brings back big threats milled along the way. How it wins: The deck builds a board of recurring creatures and Zombie tokens, then uses sacrifice-triggered edicts, drain effects and large reanimated flyers or trample threats to grind opponents out and finish them in combat. Key roles: - Self-mill engines: These repeatedly dump cards from the library into the yard, turning on threshold, delve and reanimation targets while setting up Teval's land return. (Nyx Weaver, Skull Prophet, Crawling Sensation) - Graveyard-leave payoffs: These mirror Teval's trigger, turning every exile, recast or reanimation into tokens, Treasure or card draw, so delve and recursion spells also generate value. (Teval's Judgment, Essence Anchor, Kishla Skimmer) - Reanimation and graveyard casting: These return milled creatures to the battlefield or let them be cast straight from the yard, often removing cards from it and triggering the token makers. (Kotis, Sibsig Champion, Victimize, God-Pharaoh's Gift) - Land recursion and landfall: Lands milled or sacrificed come back to play, ramping, triggering landfall drains and growth, and counting toward graveyard-leave triggers. (Life from the Loam, Will of the Sultai, Ob Nixilis, the Fallen) - Sacrifice aristocrats: The steady stream of tokens and recursive creatures is fed to sacrifice outlets that drain opponents, make mana or force edicts on them. (Grave Pact, Butcher of Malakir, Warren Soultrader) - Recursive fodder: Creatures that rebuy themselves from the yard give endless sacrifice material and repeat Teval's token trigger. (Gravecrawler, Reassembling Skeleton, River Kelpie)
