Thorin, King of Durin's Folk
Thorin, King of Durin's Folk Commander Deck
The deck is a Boros Dwarf tribal Treasure deck. Thorin turns every Dwarf that enters into a Treasure token, and those Treasures do two jobs at once: they ramp into bigger plays, and they pump every other Dwarf by +1/+0 for each artifact token on the battlefield. The plan is to flood the board with cheap Dwarves and other Treasure makers, hold onto a large pile of artifact tokens, and turn that pile into lethal attacks, or cash it in through cards that reward having or sacrificing Treasures. How it wins: A wide team of Dwarves, each pumped by a large stack of Treasures and other artifact tokens, attacks for overwhelming damage, with Treasure-sacrifice payoffs as a backup source of reach. Key roles: - Dwarf density: cheap Dwarf creatures, especially ones that come in multiples or make Dwarf tokens, so that Thorin produces as many Treasures as possible and has bodies to pump (Thorin, King of Durin's Folk). - Extra Treasure makers: non-Dwarf spells and permanents that create Treasures or other artifact tokens, raising the artifact-token count that Thorin's anthem scales on. - Token doublers and copy effects: cards that duplicate token creation or copy entering Dwarves, multiplying both the Treasure output and the size of the board. - Treasure payoffs: cards that reward holding artifacts or sacrificing Treasures, whether by draining opponents, dealing damage, drawing cards or growing creatures, so that surplus mana becomes value and reach. - Big mana sinks: expensive spells and activated abilities that turn a large Treasure bank into explosive turns, such as casting several threats at once or paying for X spells. - Combat enablers: haste, evasion, double strike and mass pump effects that let the pumped Dwarf army connect and end the game in one swing.
