Xyris 2
Xyris, the Writhing Storm Commander Deck
Xyris turns symmetrical card draw into a board. Group-draw spells, wheels and Howling Mine-style effects feed opponents extra cards, and each extra draw makes a 1/1 Snake token for Xyris's controller. Xyris's own combat damage keeps the cycle going. The flood of tokens then fuels mana, damage triggers that fire whenever a creature enters, and tribal Snake pump, while punisher effects make every card opponents draw cost them life. How it wins: Opponents are drained out through creature-entering damage triggers and per-card-drawn life loss, or the wide Snake board is pumped and swung through unblockably; Laboratory Maniac offers an alternate win once the deck has drawn through its own library. Key roles: - Symmetrical draw engine: Group-draw spells, wheels and static extra-draw effects hand opponents extra cards, so Xyris makes Snakes while the deck refills its own hand. Xyris's combat trigger is another source of shared draws. (Howling Mine, Windfall, Forced Fruition) - Draw punishers: Every card an opponent draws, or that the deck draws, turns into life loss or end-step damage. This makes the group-draw plan lethal rather than generous. (Scrawling Crawler, Psychosis Crawler, Fevered Visions) - Token entry damage: Each Snake that enters pings every opponent, so large bursts of draws become direct damage across the table. (Impact Tremors, Witty Roastmaster, Molten Gatekeeper) - Tokens as resources: The Snake swarm taps for mana, pays convoke costs, cheapens big spells and locks down opposing permanents. Skullclamp turns tokens back into cards. (Cryptolith Rite, Springleaf Parade, Skullclamp) - Snake tribal and combat payoff: Snake lords, shared-type pump, mass pumps and evasion turn the 1/1s into a lethal alpha strike. Combat-damage triggers draw even more cards. (Seshiro the Anointed, Shared Animosity, Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive) - Self-mill-free library win: Heavy self-draw plus no-maximum-hand-size effects let the deck draw through its own library for an alternate win. Draw-scaling creatures grow along the way. (Laboratory Maniac, Folio of Fancies, Lorescale Coatl)
