Kefka, Court Mage builds toward transformation by forcing opponents to discard repeatedly through attack triggers, upkeep effects, and spells, while converting each discard into card advantage, life loss, creature tokens, and mana through payoffs like Waste Not and Tergrid, God of Fright. Once transformed into Kefka, Ruler of Ruin, the deck's many sources of opponent life loss — triggered by discards, combat damage, and drain effects — fuel massive card draw, pulling further ahead each turn. The deck wins by grinding opponents into empty hands, then closing the game through accumulated life loss from discard punishment and drain triggers, or by stealing permanents opponents are forced to sacrifice or discard.
