Jace, Multiverse Architect
Jace, Multiverse Architect Commander Deck
Jace protects himself with his attack tax and uses his +1 to filter toward a pile of eight-mana bombs. Cheap token makers supply fodder, and Jace's −3, Mass Polymorph, Synthetic Destiny and Proteus Staff turn a 1/1 into a random big creature off the top of the library. Since the creature suite is almost entirely huge flyers, every token or small body cashed in tends to hit something like Archon of Cruelty, Avacyn, Absolute Virtue or Memnarch. Signets, talismans, cantrips and a light counterspell suite hold things together until then. How it wins: Polymorphing tokens into a board of huge evasive flyers, backed by Archfiend of Despair's life-loss doubling and Archon of Cruelty's drain, then attacking through mass indestructible and protection effects. Key roles: - Polymorph conversion: Jace, Multiverse Architect's −3 and the mass exile-and-reveal spells swap cheap creatures or tokens for whatever creature turns up next in the library, and with the count weighted toward huge flyers that cheats in game-winning bodies far below cost (Mass Polymorph, Synthetic Destiny, Proteus Staff). - Token fodder: Cheap and scalable token producers create the bodies to feed polymorph effects, chump-block to protect Jace, and in big X cases also wipe the opposing board (Secure the Wastes, Martial Coup, Lingering Souls). - Bomb payload: The few real creatures are eight-plus mana flyers with value, recursion or protection, so revealed hits swing games outright (Archon of Cruelty, Avacyn, Angel of Horror, Absolute Virtue). - Spellslinger value engine: Cheap cantrips and instants refill the hand and sculpt the top of the library. Several engines also reward noncreature spells or token creation with extra cards or Shark bodies, and draw-then-put-back effects can stack a bomb on top before a polymorph (Whirlwind of Thought, Shark Typhoon, Brainstorm). - Board protection and resets: Team-wide indestructible spells shield the transformed army or let it survive its own wraths, while sweepers and counterspells keep opponents off balance (Flawless Maneuver, Grand Crescendo, Sunfall).
