Sauron, the Dark Lord
Sauron, the Dark Lord Commander Deck
Sauron, the Dark Lord grows an Orc Army whenever opponents cast spells, then turns Army combat damage and other Ring temptations into full-hand refills of four cards. The list leans on interaction to punish opponents' spells, other amass sources to keep the Army large, and a dense tutor suite to find a lifelink-drain combo or a graveyard bomb. Discard-heavy wheels like the commander's refill also fill the graveyard for reanimation of big creatures. How it wins: Mostly by connecting with a growing Orc Army and other large threats while refilling cards, or by tutoring up the Sanguine Bond plus Exquisite Blood loop, often helped by Sheoldred or Orcish Bowmasters, to drain the table. Key roles: - Army growth: Amass effects from opponents' spells, the deck's own noncreature spells, and enter or attack triggers keep a single Orc Army big enough to connect and tempt the Ring (Saruman, the White Hand, Orcish Bowmasters, Summons of Saruman) - Ring temptation and refills: Extra ways to tempt the Ring stack with Sauron, the Dark Lord's discard-and-draw-four trigger, and wheel effects churn hands for value and graveyard fuel (Call of the Ring, Ringsight, Windfall) - Spell-taxing interaction: Cheap counters stop key threats while still feeding the commander's amass trigger, and some give opponents Treasures or cards that fuel further punishment (Counterspell, An Offer You Can't Refuse, Arcane Denial) - Drain combo and draw punishment: The two life enchantments loop into an infinite drain, while draw-punishers convert the table's wheels and extra draws into damage (Sanguine Bond, Exquisite Blood, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse) - Tutors: A heavy tutor package assembles the combo or the right answer on demand (Grim Tutor, Beseech the Mirror, Wishclaw Talisman) - Reanimation and board resets: Discarded or milled fatties return to the battlefield, and sweepers clear the way for the rebuilt board (Living Death, Reanimate, Sauron, Lord of the Rings)
