K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth
K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth Commander Deck
Mono-black K'rrik deck that treats life as a second mana pool. K'rrik lets every {B} be paid with 2 life, so rituals, tutors and cheap black spells chain into big turns, while lifelink, drain effects and life-gain engines refill that pool. The deck combines heavy tutoring, reanimation and sacrifice/death-trigger drains with Swamp-based mana doubling and devotion, and it uses repeated board wipes to reset the table while its own recursion and death payoffs profit from them. How it wins: It drains opponents out through life-gain/life-loss loops and mass death triggers (Exsanguinate, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, aristocrat payoffs), and Peer into the Abyss is never aimed at an opponent, because handing them a huge hand is too risky. Key roles: - Life as mana: Paying life instead of {B} through K'rrik turns cheap rituals and tutors into explosive turns, and lifelink, Necropotence-style card advantage and free-cast spells all feed on the same resource (Necropotence, Dark Ritual, Snuff Out). - Drain loops: Pairing a lifegain-to-loss converter with a loss-to-lifegain converter creates an infinite drain off any single point of life change, and Sheoldred adds steady drain on opponents' normal draws while refunding life on the deck's own draws (Exquisite Blood, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse). - Black mana explosion: Swamp doublers, Urborg and devotion lands generate huge pools for X drains, Cabal Coffers and big sorceries, and each black spell cast also grows K'rrik (Crypt Ghast, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Cabal Coffers). - Tutor chain: A dense suite of tutors assembles the drain combos, the right wipe or the right reanimation target on demand (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Dark Petition). - Graveyard reanimation: Entomb effects bin big threats, cheap reanimation spells return them, and mass reanimation serves as a late-game finisher (Buried Alive, Reanimate, Rise of the Dark Realms). - Wipe and aristocrats: Sac outlets and death-trigger drainers turn the deck's many board wipes and sacrifice rituals into life loss for opponents and value for itself, while recursion restores its own threats afterward (Blood Artist, Syr Konrad, the Grim, Deadly Tempest).
