Shilgengar, Sire of Famine Commander Deck

by Scrimbop100 cards

Shilgengar anchors an Angel tribal deck that sacrifices its own creatures, especially high-toughness Angels, to stockpile Blood tokens. Once six Blood tokens are banked, the commander mass-reanimates every creature in the graveyard with finality counters, after board wipes, sacrifices or self-mill. Around that sits a lifegain engine: Angels entering and lifelink trigger +1/+1 counters, card draw and life drain. How it wins: It overwhelms opponents with a large, pumped flying Angel air force, often rebuilt from the graveyard by Shilgengar, while lifegain triggers drain opponents directly. Key roles: - Angel tribal core: Cost reducers, entry counters and type-based anthems make every Angel cheaper and bigger, so the flying army grows quickly and gives Shilgengar high-toughness sacrifice fodder (Giada, Font of Hope, Lyra Dawnbringer, Starnheim Aspirant). - Lifegain payoffs: Angels entering and lifelink damage trigger life gain, which turns into +1/+1 counters across the board, card draw, and direct life loss for opponents (Archangel of Thune, Sanguine Bond, Righteous Valkyrie). - Blood and mass reanimation: Shilgengar's sacrifice ability converts Angels into piles of Blood. Self-sacrifice outlets, tutors that bin creatures, and self-mill load the graveyard for the six-Blood return-everything activation (Buried Alive, Diabolic Intent, Stitcher's Supplier). - Wipe and rebuild: Board wipes clear the table, and the destroyed creatures become fuel for Shilgengar's mass return and other reanimation effects, leaving the deck far ahead (Day of Judgment, Cleansing Nova, Reya Dawnbringer). - Death value: Creatures dying or leaving the graveyard drain opponents and draw cards, so each sacrifice for Blood also pays off on its own (Syr Konrad, the Grim, Grim Haruspex, Marionette Apprentice). - Board protection: Effects that make the board indestructible or hexproof, or that lock up the game, keep the army and the life total safe through opposing interaction (Sephara, Sky's Blade, Flare of Fortitude, Herald of Eternal Dawn).
