Emmara is a cheap token engine that makes a lifelink Soldier every time she becomes tapped, so the deck is built to tap and untap her as often as possible. Tapping her comes from convoke, crewing, mana abilities granted to creatures, and tap-a-creature costs. Untapping her comes from Auras, artifacts and Seedborn-style effects. Token doublers and token-entry payoffs turn that stream of 1/1s into card draw, mana and a wide board, which then swarms opponents with anthems and mass pump. How it wins: It goes wide with Soldier and other tokens, then turns the board lethal with mass pump like Craterhoof Behemoth or Akroma's Will, or wins on the spot with Halo Fountain's fifteen-creature untap ability. Key roles: - Tap outlets: Give Emmara and the rest of the board ways to tap for value, through mana abilities, convoke, crew and tap-a-creature costs, so each tap also makes a token (Cryptolith Rite, Springleaf Drum, Glare of Subdual). - Untap engines: Untap Emmara on the player's own turn or during every opponent's untap step, multiplying how many times per turn cycle she can tap and make a Soldier (Nature's Chosen, Seedborn Muse, Quest for Renewal). - Token multipliers: Increase the number of tokens each trigger creates, including Emmara's own Soldiers and the attack-based token makers (Doubling Season, Queen Allenal of Ruadach, Parallel Lives). - Token payoffs and card flow: Draw cards and make mana whenever tokens are created or deal combat damage, keeping the hand full while the board grows (Caretaker's Talent, Bennie Bracks, Zoologist, Jaheira, Friend of the Forest). - Anthems and finishers: Make the swarm of 1/1s lethal through static boosts, counters and one-shot mass pump, or close the game with an alternate win (Craterhoof Behemoth, Intangible Virtue, Halo Fountain). - Board protection and lockdown: Keep the token army and key engines alive against wraths and removal, and stop opponents from casting spells during the player's turn (Heroic Intervention, Shalai, Voice of Plenty, Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar).
