Rootha turns a spellslinger turn into a combat threat. Casting an instant or sorcery before combat makes a hasty flying X/X Elemental, where X is the greatest mana value cast that turn, so the deck rewards resolving big, expensive spells precommission-combat. Cost reducers, treasure and ritual effects let it cast high mana value spells cheaply. Copy effects and token duplicators then multiply the Elemental, and trigger doublers make Rootha and other magecraft and opus engines fire twice. How it wins: It builds one or more large hasty flying Elementals and other tokens, multiplies them with copy effects, extra combats and damage tripling, and closes with burn from repeated spell-cast pings. Key roles: - Big spell payoffs: High mana value instants and sorceries make Rootha's token large, while cast-triggered creatures grow, ping, draw or make mana whenever a five-plus mana spell resolves (Magma Opus, Molten-Core Maestro, Thunderdrum Soloist). - Cost reduction and spell mana: Reducers, treasure makers and rituals let expensive spells come down early and fund chains of spells in one turn (Stormcatch Mentor, Storm-Kiln Artist, Galazeth Prismari). - Trigger and spell doubling: Doublers make Rootha's combat trigger and the magecraft engines fire extra times, and spell copiers turn one spell into many casts (Veyran, Voice of Duality, Harmonic Prodigy, Thousand-Year Storm). - Token multiplication: The large flying Elemental is cloned at combat or by sorceries into a lethal hasty air force (Rionya, Fire Dancer, Redoubled Stormsinger, Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer). - Combat amplifiers: Extra combats, extra turns and damage multiplication convert the token board into kills (Full Throttle, Isengard Unleashed, Alrund's Epiphany). - Card flow and protection: Card draw, graveyard recursion and cheap counters keep the spell density high and protect the key turn (Archmage Emeritus, Wisdom of Ages, Counterspell).
