The Serpent Society
The Serpent Society Commander Deck
The Serpent Society runs an aristocrats deck built around deathtouch creatures. Many cheap deathtouch bodies (Bilious Skulldweller, Dragon Sniper, Frog Butler, Vampire of the Dire Moon, Hapatra's Snakes, Ogre Slumlord's Rats) are sacrificed to free outlets, and each death makes every opponent sacrifice a nontoken creature. Edict effects, death-trigger drain and card draw keep opposing boards empty while the deck's own fodder turns into cards and life loss. How it wins: It grinds opponents out of creatures with repeated edicts, drains them out through death triggers like Blood Artist and Syr Konrad, the Grim, and sometimes finishes with poison from deathtouch attackers backed by Fynn, the Fangbearer. Key roles: - Deathtouch fodder: Cheap or self-replicating deathtouch creatures whose deaths each force an opponent's sacrifice through the commander. Hapatra's -1/-1 counters and Ogre Slumlord turn the deck's own deaths into more deathtouch tokens. (Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, Ogre Slumlord, Bilious Skulldweller) - Free sacrifice outlets: Repeatable, costless ways to kill the deathtouch creatures at instant speed, which lets the deck answer threats or protect against removal on demand. (Viscera Seer, Carrion Feeder, Yawgmoth, Thran Physician) - Edict lockdown: Symmetrical and one-sided sacrifice effects that the deck's tokens and fodder absorb while opponents lose real creatures. (Ruthless Winnower, Accursed Marauder, Killmonger, Scourge of Wakanda) - Death-trigger drain: Payoffs that turn every creature death on either side into life loss, which closes games without combat. (Blood Artist, Syr Konrad, the Grim, Poison-Tip Archer) - Sacrifice card flow and recursion: Sacrificing creatures draws cards or tutors replacements, and graveyard recursion brings the best bodies back to keep the loop going. (Skullclamp, Fiend Artisan, Victimize) - Deathtouch poison: Deathtouch attackers that make blocking unprofitable and give two poison counters each when they connect, with proliferate to push poison totals higher. (Fynn, the Fangbearer, Ohran Frostfang, Glissa Sunslayer)
