Arcades, the Strategist

Arcades, the Strategist Commander Deck

Arcades turns a wall of high-toughness defenders into an attacking army: each defender that enters draws a card, and every defender swings for its toughness and ignores the attack restriction. The deck floods the board with cheap, sturdy defenders to refuel its hand, then uses effects that raise toughness, grant evasion or untap creatures to turn the same bodies that stall the opponent into lethal attackers. Vigilance-style play and big butts keep the board safe on defense while the deck attacks. How it wins: It attacks with a wide board of defenders dealing damage equal to their toughness, often pumped by toughness boosts or team-wide evasion, to kill opponents through combat. Key roles: - Defender bodies: Cheap, high-toughness creatures with defender that each draw a card through Arcades on arrival and become efficient attackers once he is out (Arcades, the Strategist). - Toughness boosts: Anthems and auras that raise toughness or set it high, which with Arcades raise damage output across the whole board (Arcades, the Strategist). - Defender enablers: Effects that give creatures defender or turn non-defenders into defender creatures, so more of the board can use Arcades' card draw and toughness-based damage (Arcades, the Strategist). - Evasion and finishers: Team-wide flying, trample or unblockability plus mass pump effects that push a big swing through blockers to end the game in one or two attacks. - Card flow payoffs: Cards that reward drawing or creatures entering, plus cheap token-style defender makers, which turn Arcades' steady draw into more resources and more bodies. - Protection and resilience: Effects that guard Arcades and the board from removal and sweepers, so the engine survives long enough to convert walls into lethal damage.
