Blast from the Past
The Fourth Doctor & Sarah Jane Smith Commander Precon
Historic-spell value with a Doctor Who legends and Sagas shell. The Fourth Doctor lets the deck cast legendaries, artifacts and Sagas off the top of the library, making Food each time. Sarah Jane Smith turns the first historic cast each turn into a Clue, and payoffs like Alistair, Jamie McCrimmon and The Sixth Doctor reward every historic spell with tokens, pump or a token copy. A board of companions and Doctors is then buffed and pushed through unblockable or anthem-backed attacks, with Saga tricks and mass removal around the edges. How it wins: It overwhelms opponents with a wide board of buffed legendary creatures and tokens, using evasion, anthems and an extra turn, with Gallifrey Stands as an occasional alternate win. Key roles: - Historic card advantage: Playing historic cards off the top of the library and generating Clues and Food on every historic cast keeps the hand and board flowing alongside Sarah Jane Smith's investigate. (The Fourth Doctor, Five Hundred Year Diary, Traverse Eternity) - Historic cast payoffs: Each historic spell also makes Soldier tokens, pumps a trampler or creates a nonlegendary token copy, turning the cast-heavy plan into board presence. (Alistair, the Brigadier, The Sixth Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon) - Doctor tutoring and recursion: A package of Doctor-searching and Doctor-returning cards assembles the crew, refills after wipes and sets up Gallifrey Stands. (The Five Doctors, An Unearthly Child, Gallifrey Stands) - Saga manipulation: Read ahead, replicate on Saga spells and copying tokens bend the Saga suite into flexible removal, tokens and value. (Barbara Wright, Ian Chesterton, City of Death) - Legendary anthems and evasion: Pump effects that scale with the legendary count, plus unblockability and combat protection, convert the companion board into lethal attacks. (Heroes' Podium, Day of Destiny, Bessie, the Doctor's Roadster) - Board control and resets: Sagas exile or neutralize threats, and one-sided-leaning wipes clear the table, backed by legendary reanimation and extra turns. (Trial of a Time Lord, The Night of the Doctor, Twice Upon a Time // Unlikely Meeting)
