This deck is a -1/-1 counter deck run through Auntie Ool, Cursewretch. Every time counters land on a creature, she either draws a card (if her controller owns that creature) or drains its controller for 1. It floods the board with -1/-1 counters through wither, enter-the-battlefield counter effects, sweepers and self-blight. That grinds down opposing boards, steals or reanimates the creatures that die with counters, and turns its own self-inflicted counters into card draw, mana and tokens. How it wins: It shrinks opposing boards with counters and sweepers while chipping life away with Auntie Ool's drains and death-triggered drain effects, then closes with large evasive threats, stolen creatures, token swarms, or a life-total swap. Key roles: - Counter spreaders: Wither sources, enter-the-battlefield counter effects and repeatable counter placers trigger Auntie Ool again and again. Each opposing creature hit drains 1 life, and creatures that deal damage as counters turn every block and fight into a trigger. (Massacre Girl, Known Killer, Everlasting Torment, Grim Poppet) - Self-blight value: Creatures that put counters on themselves or on allies turn Auntie Ool into a draw engine. They also pay her blight ward cheaply and fuel mana and card advantage. (Devoted Druid, Sinister Gnarlbark, Channeler Initiate) - Death-with-counter payoffs: When marked creatures die, these cards return opposing creatures under its control, draw cards, make Treasure, ramp lands, or chain new counters onto other creatures. (Necroskitter, The Reaper, King No More, The Scorpion God) - Counter-symmetric sweepers: Board-wide counter effects wipe out tokens and small creatures. Each affected creature triggers Auntie Ool separately, so one sweeper drains every opponent and refills its controller's hand at the same time. (Black Sun's Zenith, Carnifex Demon, Midnight Banshee) - Proliferate and counter multiplication: Proliferate and doubling effects add more counters to everything already marked, triggering the commander again. Other cards cash counters in for cards or tokens. (Vraska, Betrayal's Sting, Ferrafor, Young Yew, Eventide's Shadow) - Incidental drain and alternate finishers: Every turn a counter is placed adds 2 damage to each opponent, and creature deaths drain life. A huge-toughness Plant or poison counters provide sudden kills. (Lasting Tarfire, Grave Venerations, Tree of Perdition)
