Deadly Disguise
Kaust, Eyes of the Glade Commander Precon
This is a Naya face-down deck. It floods the board with 2/2 morphs, disguises, manifests and cloaks, attacks with them, and flips them face up mid-combat. Kaust can only turn attacking face-down creatures face up, and it draws a card whenever a creature flipped that turn connects. Flip payoffs layer on top: counters, pumps, removal, tokens and recursion turn each unmorph into a blowout, and Panoptic Projektor doubles those triggers. How it wins: Swarm the table with cheap face-down 2/2s, then flip big threats like Akroma, Krosan Colossus and Imperial Hellkite mid-combat, stacking counters and team pumps to deal lethal combat damage while drawing off every hit. Key roles: - Face-down board builders: These spread 2/2 bodies through manifest, cloak and cost reduction, and many keep generating more each turn. That feeds Kaust, Duskana and the evasion and pump effects. (Whisperwood Elemental, Veiled Ascension, Obscuring Aether) - Flip-triggered value: Static engines fire every time any permanent turns face up. They grow the flipped creature with counters, make big tokens, fight blockers, gain life or draw cards. Panoptic Projektor makes each of these trigger twice. (Experiment Twelve, Printlifter Ooze, Panoptic Projektor) - Morphs with flip payoffs: Individual creatures carry their own turned-face-up effects. These include creature and artifact removal, tutoring, regrowth, land search, token bursts and team pumps, giving each flip a card's worth of value at instant speed. (Hidden Dragonslayer, Den Protector, Thelonite Hermit) - Surprise fatties: Huge morph creatures come down cheaply face down and flip mid-attack via Kaust or Ugin's Mastery to swing combat and close games. (Akroma, Angel of Fury, Krosan Colossus, Imperial Hellkite) - 2/2 combat and card flow: The base 2/2 bodies exploit Duskana's draw and +3/+3 attack bonus and Sidar Kondo's unblockability for small creatures. Mirror Entity scales the whole team. Combat-damage draw engines like Kaust reward connecting. (Duskana, the Rage Mother, Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa, Toski, Bearer of Secrets) - Asymmetric sweepers: Board wipes hit big creatures or flip a face-down creature to clear the board, while the deck's small face-down army survives or rebuilds. (Showstopping Surprise, Dusk // Dawn, Fell the Mighty)
