Otrimi, the Ever-Playful Commander Precon

Commander 2020100 cards

Otrimi is a mutate-value deck. It stacks mutate creatures onto Otrimi or other non-Human bodies, and every mutate triggers the abilities of everything in the pile, so a single growing creature hands out card draw, discard, edicts, removal, ramp and drain all at once. Otrimi's trample and its combat-damage trigger turn every hit into a fresh mutate card from the graveyard, making the stack a self-refilling engine. Around it sits a green +1/+1-counter and X-hydra shell, plus "attack with one creature" protection and goad pieces, all aimed at getting one huge trampler through. How it wins: It pushes one massive mutated trampler, loaded with draining, edict and tapping triggers, into opponents turn after turn, rebuying mutate threats on each hit until the table falls. Key roles: - Mutate payoff stack: Each mutate trigger strips opponents' resources or adds card advantage, and the triggers that count how many times the creature has mutated get stronger as the pile grows (Chittering Harvester, Insatiable Hemophage, Auspicious Starrix). - Graveyard rebuy loop: Combat damage from Otrimi, along with recursion pieces, keeps returning mutate creatures, so losing the stack to removal or a sweeper costs little and the trigger chain keeps going (Boneyard Lurker, Find // Finality, Profane Command). - Evasion and tempo for the stack: Tapping, bounce, unblockability and flying help the single big attacker connect, which feeds every "deals combat damage" trigger (Archipelagore, Pouncing Shoreshark, Rogue's Passage). - Counters and hydra beef: X-cost hydras and +1/+1 counter effects give strong non-Human bases to mutate onto and extra counters on the creatures that connect (Cazur, Ruthless Stalker, Vastwood Hydra, Heroes' Bane). - Creature-cast card flow: Casting creature spells draws cards, keeping the hand stocked with mutate pieces (Beast Whisperer, Lifecrafter's Bestiary, Masked Admirers). - Combat lockdown and goad: Limiting combat to one attacker and one blocker suits a single-giant-creature plan, while goad auras turn opponents' creatures against each other (Silent Arbiter, Propaganda, Parasitic Impetus).
