The deck revolves around generating a constant stream of Food tokens through Sam, Loyal Attendant and numerous creatures and permanents that produce them, then sacrificing those Foods to repeatedly gain life and trigger a web of life-gain payoffs. Frodo, Adventurous Hobbit advances the Ring temptation mechanic whenever 3 or more life is gained in a turn, while other permanents convert that life gain into card draw, creature tokens, creature buffs, and opponent life loss — most notably through Sanguine Bond draining opponents equal to each life gain event. The deck wins by accumulating a wide board of growing Halfling and token creatures fueled by life gain counters and triggers, backed by drain effects, and can close out games by overwhelming opponents with a massive combat attack after buffing the team or by grinding them down through repeated life loss.
