Anhelo, the Painter enables the deck's core gameplan by giving the first instant or sorcery each turn casualty 2, meaning the deck maintains a steady supply of expendable creatures — self-recurring threats, tokens generated by spells, and persist or landfall creatures — specifically to fuel free spell copies. The strategy layers additional copy effects from enchantments and artifacts on top of Anhelo's built-in copying to generate massive value from modal spells, board wipes, and token generators, with Twinning Staff pushing copy counts even further and Parnesse, the Subtle Brush occasionally sharing copies with opponents as political leverage. The deck wins through overwhelming board presence created by copying token-producing spells like Army of the Damned and Clone Legion, grinding opponents out with replayed spells from the graveyard via Kess, Dissident Mage, or simply burying opponents in card advantage until a critical mass of copies finishes the game.
