Primal Genesis
Ghired, Conclave Exile Commander Precon
Ghired opens with a 4/4 trampling Rhino and populates a tapped and attacking copy of a creature token every time it attacks, so the deck builds a board of large creature tokens and copies the best one over and over. Populate is everywhere: upkeep and cast triggers, guildmage-style activations, and populate riders on removal, interaction and combat tricks. They turn one strong token (a Rhino, a 6/6 Wurm, a 10/10 Eldrazi, a 5/5 Dragon, an embalmed Angel) into an army. Beyond tokens, the deck copies nontoken creatures and has big-creature card draw to keep the stream of threats going. How it wins: It overwhelms opponents with an ever-growing army of large token copies that attack alongside Ghired, backed by anthems, trample and deathtouch, until combat damage finishes the table. Key roles: - Big token sources: These cards create large, high-quality creature tokens worth copying, giving Ghired and every populate effect a strong target beyond the Rhino. (Desolation Twin, Garruk, Primal Hunter, Dragonmaster Outcast) - Populate engines: These are repeatable and burst populate effects that multiply the best token each turn or in one explosive turn, stacking with Ghired's attack trigger. (Growing Ranks, Song of the Worldsoul, Full Flowering) - Populate-attached interaction: These removal spells, protection and fogs each also copy a token, so answering threats or protecting the board still adds to the army. (Trostani's Judgment, Rootborn Defenses, Ghired's Belligerence) - Creature copying: These cards copy nontoken creatures or ETB value creatures, including opponents' best ones, often with haste, which also creates temporary tokens that can be populated permanently. (Mimic Vat, Feldon of the Third Path, Flamerush Rider) - Power-based card draw: The deck refuels by drawing off big creatures entering, high power, combat damage or a wide board, which the 3+ power tokens feed constantly. (Elemental Bond, Garruk's Packleader, Ohran Frostfang) - Board advantage and finishing: Anthems, deathtouch, goad and one-sided wraths that spare tokens break board stalls and push the token army through for lethal damage. (Intangible Virtue, Hour of Reckoning, Marisi, Breaker of the Coil)
