Rootha, Mastering the Moment Commander Precon
Rootha turns an instant or sorcery cast before combat into a hasty flying Elemental token as big as the biggest spell cast that turn. The deck is built around big-mana-value spells and the cost reducers and treasure ramp that let them come down early. On top of that sits a heavy token-copying package that multiplies the Elemental and other tokens, while trigger doublers and cast-triggered creatures turn every spell into extra bodies, cards or mana. Expensive card-advantage and free-cast spells keep the spell chain going, and sweepers and bounce clear the way for the evasive army. How it wins: It swings with oversized flying hasty Elementals and token swarms, often copied many times over or pumped with team buffs, to deal lethal combat damage across the table. Key roles: - Big spells for big tokens: High-mana-value instants and sorceries, plus free-cast effects, set the size of Rootha's Elemental and set off the "mana value 5 or greater" payoffs elsewhere in the list (Magma Opus, Abstract Performance, Dance with Calamity). - Cost reduction and spell mana: Discount creatures and treasure makers let expensive spells land on curve while keeping their full mana value for Rootha's X (Dirgur Focusmage // Braingeyser, Thunderclap Drake, Storm-Kiln Artist). - Token copying and multiplication: Copy effects duplicate Rootha's Elemental or other key tokens, often with haste, and some fan the copies out to other opponents (Rionya, Fire Dancer, Redoubled Stormsinger, Rite of Replication). - Trigger doubling: Wizard and spell-trigger doublers make Rootha's combat trigger and the deck's magecraft and cast triggers fire twice, producing extra Elementals, cards and treasures (Veyran, Voice of Duality, Harmonic Prodigy). - Spellcasting payoffs: Creatures that reward each instant or sorcery with tokens, pumps or cards widen the board and keep the hand full (Prismari Pianist, Archmage Emeritus, Manaform Hellkite). - Combat damage rewards and board control: Token combat damage draws cards, re-prepares copy spells or recasts spells, while sweepers, bounce and pump finishers clear blockers and push lethal (Curiosity Crafter, Surge to Victory, Aether Gale).
