Reap the Tides

Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait Commander Precon

Commander Legends100 cards

Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait leads a Simic lands deck that turns extra land drops into a steady stream of cards. Ramp, fetch lands and bounce lands like Simic Growth Chamber and Coral Atoll trigger landfall several times per turn, and Meloku and Trench Behemoth return lands to hand so they can be replayed. That card and mana advantage builds toward a top end of seven- and eight-drop sea monsters and landfall token makers that take over the board. How it wins: It overwhelms opponents with huge creatures and landfall-fueled armies, often after locking down or clearing blockers with mass bounce, tapping and creature-attack restrictions. Key roles: - Extra land drops and land recursion: These cards multiply landfall triggers each turn by granting additional land plays, replaying lands from the graveyard, and returning lands to hand to replay them (Explore, Ramunap Excavator, Simic Growth Chamber). - Landfall payoffs: Beyond Aesi's card draw, these permanents convert each land into tokens, counters or extra cards, building a wide board alongside the commander (Avenger of Zendikar, Rampaging Baloths, Seer's Sundial). - Ramp into the top end: Land-fetching spells and fetch-style lands accelerate mana while also adding landfall triggers, and the sacrifice lands give two triggers apiece (Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Evolving Wilds). - Sea monster finishers: Massive Krakens, Leviathans and other titans close the game, several of them evasive or resilient and benefiting from the land count (Tromokratis, Stormtide Leviathan, Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer). - Board control through bounce and tapping: Mass bounce that spares Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses and Serpents, including Aesi itself, clears the way, while tap effects neutralize blockers for a lethal swing (Whelming Wave, Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep, Elder Deep-Fiend). - Value creatures and recursion: Enter-the-battlefield creatures draw cards, remove problem permanents or retrieve key pieces, and Spitting Image can copy them by discarding excess lands (Mulldrifter, Eternal Witness, Spitting Image).
