Revenant Recon
Mirko, Obsessive Theorist Commander Precon
Mirko grows a +1/+1 counter every time the deck surveils, and at each end step he can return a creature card with power less than his own from the graveyard to the battlefield with a finality counter. The deck therefore surveils constantly, through cantrips, enter-the-battlefield creatures and repeatable upkeep or tap triggers, to fill the graveyard with value creatures and grow Mirko past their power. It then reanimates them one per turn, backed by a heavier reanimation suite for big threats like six-power Titans and Sphinxes. Surveil payoffs that grow, copy themselves or ping opponents turn every look at the library into extra value. How it wins: The deck builds an overwhelming board of reanimated flyers and bombs, with draining payoffs like Massacre Wurm, Syr Konrad, Whispering Snitch and Twilight Prophet eroding life totals until big evasive attackers finish the game. Key roles: - Surveil engines: repeatable and cheap surveil sources that grow Mirko each turn, dig for key pieces and bin creatures to bring back, amplified by seeing extra cards per surveil (Doom Whisperer, Sinister Starfish, Enhanced Surveillance) - Surveil payoffs: creatures and enchantments that grow, multiply, drain or rebuy themselves whenever the deck surveils, rewarding the same triggers that feed Mirko (Whispering Snitch, Copy Catchers, Dimir Spybug) - ETB value fodder: creatures with strong enter abilities, such as removal, card draw and surveil, that Mirko's end-step trigger loops back from the graveyard for repeated value (Ravenous Chupacabra, Baleful Strix, Master of Death) - Big reanimation: spells and effects that cheat in high-power creatures Mirko can't yet return, including mass reanimation that empties every graveyard onto the deck's side (Reanimate, Rise of the Dark Realms, Charnel Serenade) - Graveyard casting and copying: ways to cast spells from the graveyard, copy creatures already in play or in the graveyard, and duplicate creature spells once enough cards are binned (Eye of Duskmantle, Case of the Shifting Visage, Lazav, the Multifarious) - Drain finishers: creatures that punish dying or milled creatures and closing bombs that turn a wide reanimated board into lethal damage (Massacre Wurm, Syr Konrad, the Grim, Grave Titan)
