Scions & Spellcraft (FINAL FANTASY XIV)
Y'shtola, Night's Blessed Commander Precon
Esper spellslinger built around Y'shtola: each noncreature spell of mana value 3 or more pings every opponent for 2 and gains 2 life, and once the drain adds up, Y'shtola's end-step trigger draws a card. A cast of legendary Final Fantasy characters and token makers multiplies the value of every noncreature spell, through extra damage pings, tokens, counters and cost reductions. Equipment and auras that give Y'shtola lifelink or deathtouch turn her own trigger into a stronger weapon. Removal, sweepers and graveyard recasting keep the board under control while the life loss piles up. How it wins: Repeated noncreature spells drain the table through Y'shtola and the ping creatures, backed by a growing token board, Fandaniel's end-step life loss and an Exsanguinate finisher. Key roles: - Noncreature cast drain: Y'shtola plus creatures and tokens that deal damage to each opponent whenever a noncreature spell is cast, so every 3+ value spell becomes a group drain that also fuels the end-step draw (Papalymo Totolymo, Transpose, Circle of Power) - Commander damage enhancers: equipment and auras that give Y'shtola lifelink or deathtouch, so her noncombat pings gain more life or let her kill creatures with her trigger (Dancer's Chakrams, Eye of Nidhogg) - Spell-triggered army: legendaries and enchantments that create and grow tokens or put counters on creatures whenever noncreature spells are cast, building a wide or tall board to swing alongside the drain (Hermes, Overseer of Elpis, G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn, Ardbert, Warrior of Darkness) - Spell chaining and cost reduction: second-spell discounts, cheaper noncreature spells and second-spell draws let several triggers fire in one turn (Lyse Hext, Alisaie Leveilleur, Alphinaud Leveilleur) - Graveyard spell recursion: recasting instants and sorceries from the graveyard repeats removal and drain triggers, and filling the yard powers a punishing end-step tax on opponents (Emet-Selch of the Third Seat, Torrential Gearhulk, Fandaniel, Telophoroi Ascian) - Interaction and control: spot removal, board wipes and attack taxes keep opponents' boards in check while the drain does its work (Vindicate, Cleansing Nova, Propaganda)
