Gimbal, Gremlin Prodigy Commander Precon

March of the Machine Commander100 cards

Gimbal's end-step trigger is the deck's engine. It makes a Gremlin token that grows with every differently named artifact token, so the list is packed with varied token makers: Treasure, Clue, Food, Thopter, Servo, Blood, Gold, Feather, Golem, Replicated Ring and copy tokens. Those tokens ramp into big spells, draw cards and swell an artifact-creature army. Gimbal gives that army trample, and anthems, flying granters and artifact animation turn it into a lethal force. How it wins: It attacks with a wide, pumped board of trampling and often flying artifact creatures led by oversized Gremlins, and finishes with artifact-count damage like ping engines and Hellkite Igniter. Key roles: - Token variety: Producing many differently named artifact tokens directly scales Gimbal's Gremlins and the bolster on Sandsteppe War Riders. One card that creates several token types at once is especially valuable. (Academy Manufactor, Tireless Provisioner, Saheeli, Sublime Artificer) - Treasure and landfall ramp: First-spell triggers, landfall, attack triggers and countering spells pour out Treasures and Clues. That mana powers expensive spells and keeps the artifact count high. (Rashmi and Ragavan, Brass's Bounty, Cutthroat Negotiator) - Token copying: Copy effects duplicate key artifacts or creatures as artifact tokens, adding new names and value. Combat-damage copiers reward connecting with evasive attackers. (Saheeli's Artistry, Schema Thief, Bloodforged Battle-Axe) - Artifact army and evasion: Anthems, artifact animation, flying granters and unblockability turn Gremlins, Thopters and noncreature artifacts into a trampling, flying strike force. (Master of Etherium, Workshop Elders, Rise and Shine) - Combat card advantage: Artifact creatures dealing combat damage draw cards and make more Thopters. The army refuels the deck as it attacks. (Thopter Spy Network, Sharding Sphinx, Whirler Rogue) - Artifact-count payoffs: Artifact-scaled pump, entry pings, tap-two-artifacts damage, improvise and affinity convert a wide artifact board into damage and cheap spells. (Hellkite Igniter, Hedron Detonator, Ghirapur Aether Grid)
